Pasadena has scores of coyotes terrorizing the neighborhood!
We live in a dead-end courtyard and this is the place in the back parking area where they made their den last year and had pups and are trying again this year. But we had it closed off as there are 3 small snack-sized dogs on the property. The circled area shows the entrance to the den, which goes back along the inside of the fence.
Here is one trying to get to that den. I’d scared it off moments ago but it circled back along the side of the property.
I have no desire to hurt these beautiful animals but they have become pests and no govt. agencies, Fish & Game, etc. nor Humane Societies will do anything about it unless they bite a human. I’ve called them all. They are allowed to come and go as they please according to the law. But they have recently attacked my neighbors dog, even though he had it on a leash. They were ambushed and the pup sustained serious damage, needing 17 stitches and a drainage tube..
That was the final straw for me, it was just too close! Many of us neighbors have bought Coyote Vests. When I first saw them I thought them gruesome, but now I see them in a different light. I feel my little girl stands 1/2 a chance, along with the large stick and pepper spray I carry. Walking the dogs used to be a pleasure, but now I’m constantly on the lookout, they could be hiding anywhere and are NOT afraid of humans. They have become emboldened.

Here is my girl with her new outfit. She isn’t bothered by it at all. But does it make her butt look fat??
